Dr Shane Langsford founded PECS in Subiaco in 1999, growing it from a single-practitioner practice to a team of seven fully registered psychologists. Over 26 years he has personally conducted more than 12,000 psychological assessments, including over 2,500 ADHD assessments.

He is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and AHPRA, holds Endorsement in Educational and Developmental Psychology in both Australia and the United Kingdom, and is a Fellow of the APS College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists with Full Academic Member status - a credential requiring a PhD, multi-year research and teaching experience, and a published body of relevant research.

In 2015 he was personally selected by the then Federal Minister of Health to join the 13-member Mental Health Expert Reference Group in Canberra - the only practising psychologist in Australia, and the only member from Western Australia. He has since been the only Australian psychologist invited to the ADHD Institute's international "Meeting of the Minds" forums in Madrid, Munich, Stockholm and Berlin.

Dr Langsford is also the creator of PsychProfiler, an award-winning DSM-5-TR-oriented global screening instrument that has been the most widely used Australian psychiatric, psychological and educational screening tool since 2004.

A registered NDIS provider for diagnostic assessments.

PECS is a registered NDIS provider. Our psychological and educational assessments are claimable under NDIS plans for participants whose plans include relevant funding.

Common reasons for NDIS-funded assessments at PECS:

What to expect

From first call to final report, in five steps.

    Enquire

    Call (08) 9388 8044 or send an online enquiry. We will discuss the appropriate assessment, expected fees, and rebate options.

  2. 02

    Schedule

    Most appointments are available within 4 weeks of enquiry. For NDIS participants, we coordinate directly with your plan manager.

  3. 03

    Assess

    A comprehensive assessment session conducted by a fully registered psychologist, typically 2-4 hours depending on the assessment type.

  4. 04

    Report

    A detailed written report completed within 10 working days, including findings, diagnostic considerations and specific recommendations.

  5. 05

    Feedback

    An optional feedback session to discuss the report and next steps with you, your child, or your referring clinician.

Developed by Dr Shane Langsford and oriented to the DSM-5-TR, PsychProfiler is the most widely used Australian psychiatric, psychological and educational global screening instrument. It has been in continuous clinical use since 2004 and is available for licensed use by other practitioners, schools and organisations.

Fees + rebates

Pre-determined fees. No surprises.

Set fees per assessment

All assessments are charged at pre-determined fees. You know the total cost before committing.

Medicare + private health

Rebates are available with a GP or specialist referral under the relevant Medicare scheme. Private health funds also rebate.

NDIS registered

Plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants can use plan funding for PECS assessments.

Although the APS recommends a fee of $318 per hour, PECS fees are set significantly below the recommended rate.
